PEDREGOSA

MR PEDREGOSA OF AGUSAN DEL NORTE AND HIS RICE FARM

The NATURES BIO EXPERIENCE that we featured is that of Mr. Ernesto Pedregosa, member of a farmers’ cooperative located at Lingayao, Las Nieves, Agusan Del Norte, with the supervision of Mr. Emilio Saldivar (former NGI field representative) and Mr. Henry Jimenez Agri Technician of PhilRice Region XIII.

Mr. Pedregosa, an owner of a rice farm in at Lingayao, Las Nieves, Agusan Del Norte, wanted to try and shift into organic farming to have more yield and to save costs in his inputs and labor. With his plan, he tried Natures Bio Organic Fertilizer and Natures Bio Nim Organic Pest Controller and its proper protocol in the planting of his rice. He utilized a portion of his rice farm, applied with Natures Bio Organic Fertilizer and Natures Bio Nim Organic Pest Controller solution and another portion was applied with the conventional solution as comparison to see the results of each stage of the planting process. Starting from the land preparation, seed soaking, the distance of planting of the seedlings, and the spraying of the Natures Bio Organic Fertilizer and Natures Bio Nim Organic Pest Controller, Mr Pedregosa witnessed the good results on the rice.

The pictures show good results with the plants, looking very healthy and vigorous in 6 weeks post transplantation and after spraying only 70ml of Natures Bio Organic Fertilizer and 70 ml Natures Bio Nim Organic Pest Controller. More improvements were evident on the 8th week and on the tilling stage that have the same ratio application. Mr. Pedregosa was very happy with the results showing healthy crops on the milking and ripening stages. Compared to the treated bundled palay samples, the non-treated looked dry and had less tillers per hill. The bundled palay and the rice stubbles of the treated samples look greener and had had a more productive tillers.

At the end of the cropping phase, the rice stubbles were still green even after harvest, which marks the good effect of the treatment of Natures Bio Organic Fertilizer and Natures Bio Nim Organic Pest Controller. This protocol has produced 115 sacks at 56kg per hectare (6.44t/ha crop yield). In comparison with the untreated crops and those treated conventionally, they have only 68 sacks at 55kg per hectare (3.74t/ha). They obtained almost a 100% increase in yield.
